Josh Blue’s Interpreter

I’m a big fan of comedian Josh Blue. In this video, Josh has a laugh with the interpreter and the transcriptionist. Not only is it funny, but it’s a good example of how an interpreter and a transcriptionist deftly go along with being called out in front of the crowd and not taking themselves too seriously. In Goffman’s language, when Blue starts talking to the two people, he immediately takes them from being a “non-person” to being “front stage” (I think that’s right) just by addressing them publicly. I love seeing how people adapt to this when it happens. There are no captions or interpreting provided, so it’s not very accessible.
